THE action comes thick and fast at Taunton racecourse where they race again tomorrow (March 2) when the first of the seven events is due to go to post at 2.00pm, writes Richard Walsh.
With a very generous prize pot of £58,000 on offer and two Class 3 races on the card, another good day of action looks to be in store for local punters.
First up is the Dave Kingsbury 70th Birthday Today Selling Hurdle race over two miles three furlongs which is followed half an hour later by the Clarke Willmott Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles five and a half furlongs.
Next to post 30 minutes later is the Ron Osborne Memorial Novices’ Hurdle over two miles three furlongs.
The most valuable race on the card is next to post, when the South West Racing Club Steeple Chase (A Novices’ Limited Handicap) which has £13,000 up for grabs in prizes. This is run over two miles seven furlongs, goes to post at 3.30pm and is the first of the Class 3 events.
Next to post the Ditcheat Thoroughbreds Handicap Hurdle, over two miles three furlongs, is the other Class 3 race and has £10k available in prizes to be won.
The Stables Business Park Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles two furlongs is the next race at 4.40 pm.
Situated at Rooksbridge close to the M5 motorway the Stables Business Park have recently taken on the sponsorship of the Owners and Trainers Bar at Taunton for which the racecourse management is extremely grateful.
The final race on the card is the UB40 Here In Concert 11th June Novices’ Handicap Hurdle over three miles, the longest of the day.
