WELLINGTON road racer Matt Pearce has been forced to withdraw from this season’s Pirelli National Superstock Championship - before it even starts.
He explained yesterday: “The funding just did not come together and I had to make the difficult decision to pull the plug without the support of the title sponsor I had hoped to have on board. I am around £14,000 short of making the season.
“So, apart from many other loose ends to now tie up, I also have the small matter of the bingo night. As it is already pretty much planned and arranged, we have decided to go ahead with it, but to donate any funds raised to Mesothelioma UK. It is a charity for sufferers of a particular cancer caused by Asbestos.
“I would like to thank the support which has been given to me by the WWN over the years. I hope it won’t be the last you see of me but its certainly going to be quiet now for a little while.”
Matt’s Easter Bingo is at Uffculme Secondary School on Saturday, April 8 (7.30 for 8.00).
