‘Peppa Pig’ at street fair

WELLINGTON Carnival says a life-sized Peppa Pig and her brother George will be attending Carnival Street Fair next month.

Paw Patrol characters entertained the children last year and a large queue of youngsters formed to have photos taken with them. Secretary Louise Brierley said: “Hopefully, Peppa Pig and George will also be popular.”

Louise added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local groups and entertainers who will be performing throughout the day – we have a full programme of entertainment arranged throughout the day in the High Street and South Street, as well as an open-mic stage outside Rule 7.

“It is also rumoured that Elvis might be making a return visit to Wellington. A full schedule of entertainment will be published in the WWN in the week leading up to the event.”

More than 80 stalls have been booked for the street fair on Sunday, June 4, a record for the event.

Louise said: “We are hoping our local shops benefit from the extra footfall the event draws in.

“Funds raised by the event go towards insurance costs and prize money for Wellington Carnival, which takes place on Saturday, September 30, this year.”
