WELLINGTON Cricket Club’s Past Players Association will be holding its opening event of the 2017 season when it convenes for its AGM and Lunch at Wellington CC on Saturday, May 20, from 12 noon, writes David Derrick

In what will be its sixth season of operation the association is offering a quality two course lunch free of charge to all who pay a membership subscription of £5 on the day and any guests may enjoy the same meal offering for a cost of just £5 per head.

The event will kick off with the association’s AGM from noon which will be overseen by president Keith Colman and will consider the past 12 months and what plans there are for 2017.

The association will be making another donation to the Club on the day – a 6mx3m gazebo will be the latest addition to club equipment that has been given through its funds. All who wish to attend the lunch event are asked to get their orders and those of any guests in by Thursday, May 18, at the very latest (and preferably earlier) to any of the association’s officers as follows: Matt Colman 0798 968 7818, Chris Rudd 0771 110 6703, Paul Rowlandson 0798 084 4852, Ashley Colman 0778 714 2648.

After lunch the association and its guests will support the 1st XI in its West of England Premier League Somerset Division game against North Perrott.

Other events planned for 2017 that will be run by the association are a T20 Challenge Match against a Wellington CC President’s XI at Wellington CC from 6.15pm on Friday, June 30, and an Open Evening Barbecue, also at Wellington CC, on Saturday, July 15, from 6.00pm.
