A WELLINGTON School student has beaten off hot competition to win a place at a European Triathlon Championships.
Jarvis Lumb in Year 9 will be representing GB in the European Triathlon Championships in Portugal in July. Jarvis competed in Cheltenham in the four lap continuous run, swim, shoot event with a 4 x 400m run, 4 x 25m swim and 4 x 5 shots laser shoot. He finished a superb fifth in his age group and will be spending six days in Portugal in 35 degree heat in the championships, which features a sea swim!
This was Jarvis’s first competition and he has only been competing in the sport for less than a year.
Jarvis’s younger sister Mimi also competed and was hot on his heels as first reserve for the GB team.
Both have been coached by Lydia Rosling at school in the laser shooting and Jarvis has been tirelessly working on his transitions from running to shooting – which clearly paid off.
