Ten Tors in double-quick time

By Mark Pritchett in Local People

THE Court Fields Ten Tors 2017 team got their skates on to complete the 35-mile challenge in quick time, crossing the finish line at 10.53am on Sunday.

After a mass start from Okehampton Army camp on Saturday at 7am the team (pictured) set a very fast pace, passing checkpoints at High Willhays, Watern Tor, Fernworthy Forest, Sittaford Tor, Higher White Tor, Holming Beam, Little Mis Tor, White Barrow and Standon Farm before having to stop for the night and camp at Chat Tor.

After cooking an evening meal and getting some sleep the team were up early and on their way at 6am to Great Kneeset, Hound Tor and Cosdon Hill before turning for home and arriving back at the Okehampton Army Camp to be met by team managers Peter Greenfield and Malcolm Dickson, and all their parents.

Two ex-students, Josh Corby and Joe Fox, completed the 55-mile challenge as part of the St Thomas Old Boys Team made up of walkers from across Devon and Somerset trained by Wellington man Adrian Corby.
