Trains, tractors tanks and more at steam fair

By Mark Pritchett in Local People

MIGHTY steam trains, trusty tractors and vintage cars and motorbikes promise a great day out for all the family at the West Somerset Railway Association Steam Fair and Vintage Rally at Norton Fitzwarren.

Visitors to the event on Saturday and Sunday (August 5 and 6) will also be able to see military tanks and displays and shire horses, and enjoy go-karts and a miniature railway. They will also be able to take a trip along the old Barnstaple branch line in a ‘brake van’ hauled by a steam engine and try working a pump trolley along the rails.

Lots of other railway exhibits will be on show, along with arena parades, children’s entertainment, market and craft stalls, and a large refreshment tent selling real ales and ciders.

Free parking is available at Bishops Lydeard station for a free shuttle train service to the rally site.

The event is open 10am-5pm both days and tickets are £12 adults, £10 seniors and children free. For more details and advance tickets – including two days for the price of one – visit
