Triathlete Rob picked for world champs

FORMER Wellington School student Rob Smyth, 34, has been named by the Great Britain selectors to take part in the World Triathlon Championships in Rotterdam later this month.

It follows his brilliant victory in the London Triathlon last month when he finished the race running the last 600 metres following a puncture to his bike.

He comes from a strong running background and as a junior he competed for GB while at the local school.

He lives in London with his partner Sarah, a lawyer, and works in the Mayor’s Office as director for London Sport. His parents Brian and Sue Smyth live in Hoyles Road, Wellington.
