Flower show wants 1,000 entries

By Mark Pritchett in Local People

WELLINGTON Flower Show is hoping to attract newcomers to the event and 1,000 exhibits this year.

The show, being held next to the Princess Royal Sports Centre in South Street on Saturday, August 26, has never quite reached that figure but hopes to do so this time.

The usual splendid array of fruit and flowers, vegetables and pot plants will be on offer. There are classes for cookery and craft, including art and photography, flower arranging and the ever popular children’s classes, which include making a Somerset landmark out of cardboard waste, creating a potato person and seeing how many objects beginning with the letter ‘L’ can be fitted into a matchbox.

Schedules and entry forms are available from the library, Nurtured by Nature, Odette’s Tearoom, Interiors and Flowers and the Tourist Office. Information is also on the website, www.wellingtonflowershow.co.uk

Everyone is welcome to enter.

The show is open 2.15-5pm with disabled visitors welcome at 1.45pm.
