Town talks on empty shops

By Mark Pritchett in Local People

WELLINGTON Town Council could take short-term leases on one or two of the empty shops in the town, it was suggested at its monthly meeting on Monday night.

The idea came from Keith Wheatley, chairman of Wellington Business Association, who submitted a paper to the council which discussed the number of town centre shops either empty or up for sale.

Taunton Deane councillor Mark Edwards, portfolio holder for Business Development, attended the meeting.
