FORWARD-thinking members of the public and community groups are invited to join leaders for climate action in Somerset at an event this month.

The ‘Action for Somerset’s Future’ day will include panel discussions, workshops and attendees will also be able to contribute to the development of Somerset’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

The event is jointly organised by Community Action Groups (CAG) Somerset – which is part funded by Somerset Council and managed by Resource Futures – Somerset Climate Action Network and Somerset Local Nature Partnership.

The partnership invites the public to join workshops, network and listen to panel discussions that include: Anita Roy, Chairperson for Transition Town Wellington; Cllr Dixie Darch, Lead Member for Environment and Climate Change at Somerset Council; Wivey Kitchen Community Group; Lily Morton, Community Liaison Officer for SUEZ recycling and recovery UK; Nicky Saunter, Founder of Boston Tea Party cafes; and, Mickey Green, Executive Director for Climate and Place at Somerset Council.

Councillor Dixie Darch Executive Member for Environment and Climate Change said: “Everyone is invited to join us, your input can help drive our climate strategy forward.”

The event will be held at Taunton’s Albermarle Centre on Saturday, May 18, from 10am-3.30pm.
