DANNY Lee has been chosen to captain Wellington lst XV during next season's big 150th year celebrations.

Lee is an inspirational player and the decision to hand him the captaincy again was a popular choice. Wellington finished ninth in Regional Two South West last season - down four places on the previous year.

This was put down to the inability to field a settled side with players being unavailable or injured.

Not unexpectedly, Andrew Bellamy will again lead the 2nd XV into action next season after the second enjoyed a much improved winter.

Meanwhile, Wellington have also re-appointed former England and Bath hooker Graham Dawe as head coach for another season.

Dawe, who is 64, has held the role at the Athletic Ground for the past five seasons.

He earned five caps for England, from 1987 to 1995. He won 14 major trophies during his 12 years at Bath before moving on to Sale and he has also represented the Barbarians, South West and Devon and Cornwall.

Wellington, with two pitches at its disposal, is a club blessed with a number of young players who have come up through the youth set-up.
