THE Wellington Ladies Skittles League has presented Reminiscence Learning with a cheque for £400.

The presentation was made at the league's annual presentation night which was held at Wellington Rugby Club.

Eleven teams competed in the league this winter and the rugby club was packed with players from the league for the annual event.

The main guest was 101-year-old Madge Covey who played for High Street Blues in the league before the team disbanded because of the pandemic. She captained the side for more than 20 years.

"I don't think we would have stopped playing had it not been for Covid," she said. "Although of course we were all getting a little bit older.

"I enjoyed the night. It was great to see so many people I knew. I had been looking forward to seeing the girls, especially those who played for our team."

Stars of the league were Jolly Blues who won the title and rivals Land Girls who won the KO Cup and finished runners-up in the league. They beat Split Pins by 21 pins in their final match to make sure of a second place finish in the title race which was an exciting affair.
