KILVE have opened up a 23-point lead at the top of the first division in the West Somerset Cricket League after beating Bagborough away by 119 runs.

Kilve, batting first, scored 278-7 in their 40 overs with Jay Darrell hitting exactly 100, while Tom Wilcox made 62 and Carl Clemenson 37.

In reply, the home side were bowled out for 159 with C Swimborne top scoring with 72, while Tom Eve made 32. J Taylor took 3-27, Josh Calder 2-61, Dean Marchant 2-12 and Wilcox 2-16.

Champions Ashbrittle gained a seven-wicket win over third-placed East Huntspill who decided to bat first and scored 219-7 in their 40 overs. Dallan Doyle top scored with 67 not out while Will Fear hit 38 and Justin Melhuish 30. Luke Williams snapped up 3-47 and Oliver White 2-28.

Ashbrittle knocked off the runs in 36.5 overs with Sam Shaih leading the run-chase with 94 not out, which included 12 fours and two sixes while opener Mark White scored 73.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Watchet after their home game against bottom side Winsford was conceded by the visitors who are now 21 points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Bridgetown suffered a heavy seven-wicket defeat away to Morebath after scoring 200-7 in their 40 overs. Opener Dan Sizer scored 58 for Bridgetown while Henry Bond knocked 56. Adam Cowling was Morebath’s leading wicket-taker with 3-48 while Irindu Gallage took 2-43.

James Cary (86 not out) and Stephen Kelland (652) shared in a an opening stand of 161 as Morebath reached their target in 26.2 overs. Daniel Cross took 2-19.

Brompton Ralph lost by two wickets away to Over Stowey despite piling up 253 for the loss of only two wickets. Will Ruell was 125 not out while B Poole made 93.

Sam Thomas was Stowey’s star batsman, scoring 82 with ten fours and two sixes, while opener James Swales scored 34, Kieran Barrow 37 and Simon Burland 32. William Barrington took 4-40 .

Crowcombe have a 29-point lead at the the top of Division Two after winning by four wickets at Churchinford who drop back to third place. The home side were bowled out for 167 in 37.4 overs with Kelann Nessling being the top scorer with 39. Ali Layard scored 32 and Leo Carpenter 21. Rob White took 4-26 and Richard Baker 3-37.

Crowcombe also found runs hard to come by but opener Luke Willets scored a patient 49 while Charlie Baker was 44 not out. James Troy-Brown took 3-31.

Lydeard St Lawrence are now up to second after they won by six wickets at home to Sampford Arundel who batted first and scored 231-9. Lydeard reached their target with seven overs to spare.

Stogumber were the day’s top scorers, hitting 300 for the loss of seven wickets in their 121-run success at Roadwater. Big-hitting opener Elias Hayes led the way with 106, knocking 13 fours and five sixes, in his 92-ball innings.

M Richings also hammered 11 sixes in his score of 95, while Elliott Brick made 26 off 16 balls. Zac Watson took 3-363 and Claude Mahlich 2-20.

Roadwater never recovered from losing two wickets with only ten runs scored and only Adam Bishop, with a splendid 111, managed to get on top of the bowling. He hit 13 fours and six sixes. S Yaw took 5-27.
