TWO good causes are set to benefit when the Superstar Studios gym at Lowmoor Business Park in Wellington holds an open day.

The event, featuring 12 hours of free exercise classes, will raise money for mental health charity Mind and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Gym co-owner Brandon Haggett says it is hoped to raise at least £1,000 from donations at the event on Saturday, May 4.

The classes, starting at 8am and running through to 8pm, will be run by ten instructors on shift, and DJs Dan Brown and Jason Cooney will be providing the music to exercise to.

Three masseuses and a nutritionist will be at the open day, and a barbecue will also be on offer.

Brandon, 26, from Hemyock, and his co-owner Lee Owen, 30, from Watchet, took over what was Wellfit Therapy last month.

They have been busy carrying out work at the gym which has equipment including rowing machines, assault bikes, battle ropes, boxing bags, kettle bells and resistance bands.

They are running nearly 100 fitness classes a month and facilities include a treatment, massage, sunbed and shower rooms.

Brandon said: “Superstar Studios is a really fun place to train and that is the feel we try to create with our fitness sessions. We cater for all abilities, fitness levels and ages, and try to help people stay motivated.”

Brandon and Lee were personal trainers at Wellington sports centre but Lee is now training to be a firefighter. That has taken him away to London on weekdays before returning to Somerset at weekends.
