About 200 people from the churches in Wellington and surrounding villages came together in the Baptist Church for their annual united Good Friday service to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The Rev Sam Griffiths led the service, with members of other churches giving reflective Bible readings.
Toby Jones led the Walk of Witness which followed, carrying a wooden cross at the head of the walkers. After leaving the Baptist Church they headed down South Street and along the High Street finishing at St John’s Parish Church, where Rev Tim Treanor gave final thoughts and prayer.
Hot cross buns and an Easter booklet were handed out along the route to shoppers and to the patient car drivers waiting for the walk to pass along.
Hot cross buns and drinks were also freely available at St John’s at the end.
John Salter said: “On behalf of Churches Together I wish to thank everyone who in any way helped to make this such a meaningful time.”
