COUNCILLORS have concerns about the cleaning of the Longforth Road public toilets in Wellington.
Clerk to Wellington Town Council, Dave Farrow, told councillors at their latest meeting that he had spoken with contractors ID Verde who had said the toilets were cleaned twice a day.
“Following concerns raised about the cleaning regime of the toilets, systems have been put in place to monitor the arrangements more closely,” he said in a report.
“Where it is apparent that twice daily cleaning is not taking place, this has been raised with ID Verde.

But Cllr John Thorne questioned whether the toilets were actually being cleaned twice a day.
And Cllr Marcus Barr said: “If we pay for those toilets to be cleaned twice a day then they should be cleaned twice a day – this is council taxpayers’ money.”
It was also suggested that there had been occasions where the toilets were being cleaned twice a day but with both cleans coming within the space of a couple of hours rather than once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
Mr Farrow said he would speak further with ID Verde.
