A WELLINGTON man has appeared at Taunton Magistrates’ Court following an unusual increase in thefts of cash from homes and vehicles in the town.
Dylan Towers, 23, of Stoneleigh, Tonedale, pleaded guilty to interfering with a vehicle with the intention of theft and possession of
cannabis.
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
He was arrested on Friday, June 15, having been disturbed rifling through a car in Lodge Close, Wellington, in the early hours of the previous day.
After his arrest, Neighbourhood Sgt Stuart Wells said: “We ask people to make sure they secure doors and windows and set house alarms, as well as emptying vehicles of valuables and ensuring they’re locked.
“If you find your vehicle has been searched overnight, please do report it, even if nothing has been stolen, as it will help us to target our patrols and bid for more resources.”
