Members of Wellington Town Council last week said a letter of appreciation should be sent to PC Dunn.
Cllr Andrew Govier said: “We should thank him for his efforts. He has been a great servant to the police and this town.”
Councillors were told that PC Mike Tipper from Taunton would be stepping into PC Dunn’s shoes.
