POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A39 in West Somerset yesterday (Monday, October 22).

The three-vehicle collision happed at about 2pm between West Quantoxhead and Kilve.

A Vauxhall Corsa travelling east was in collision with a Rover travelling in the opposite direction. A Citroen was also involved in the collision.

A number of people were taken to hospital but only one person – a woman in her 70s – remains in a critical condition. All the other casualties sustained less serious injuries.

The road was closed until shortly after 10pm to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help their enquiries.

They would particularly like to hear from motorists who may have dash cam footage of the collision.
