TWO people have been reportedly hospitalised following a “serious” collision on the A358 this afternoon (August 8).
A man is said to have been transported to Musgrove Park Hospital by land ambulance, and a woman by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital.
Police say the woman faces potentially life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision just after 12pm on Friday, August 8, after a white Peugeot car left the road.
Two land ambulances, one air ambulance, a tactical commander, and a hazardous area response team were dispatched to the scene near West Bagborough.
The A358 road between Combe Florey and the junction of New Road remains closed.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “At 12.01pm today (8 August) we received reports of a single-vehicle collision on the A358 near West Bagborough.
“Emergency services attended and the ambulance service treated the two occupants of the white Peugeot car, which had left the road.
“A man was taken to hospital by ambulance for injuries that are believed to be life-changing and a woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance for injuries that are potentially life-threatening.
“The road has been closed by officers between its junction with New Road and Combe Florey to allow emergency services to respond and initial investigations to take place.
“Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes with the closure likely to remain in place for some time.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who has any dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 using the reference 5225223725.”
