BRADFORD Players, from humble beginnings in 1984, are now celebrating 35 years of entertaining villagers in Bradford-on-Tone with a variety of productions.
The group started with a show called ‘Panto Frolics’, mostly as a way of involving those who lived in the village. Emboldened by their success, they continued with further shows.
Over the years the choices have been fun and varied, from panto to drama, farce to musical revue, and one-act play to murder mystery. Members and audiences come not just from the village but from many miles beyond.
To celebrate the 35th birthday, the group has decided to take audiences back in time to the decade where it all began. ‘I Love The 80s’ is a musical revue of songs, news, sketches, dances and music from this amazing decade.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We invite everyone to dig out the leg-warmers, get out the hairspray and come along with us to dance the night away – you know you want to! Here’s to many more years to come.”
The show is at Bradford-on-Tone village hall from Thursday, October 10, to Saturday, October 12, at 7.30pm; adults £8, under-18s £5. Tickets are available from [email protected]/07581 880807.
Dressing up is not compulsory but a prize is on offer for best 80s costume.
