HUNDREDS of pounds were coined in at a charity fundraising event at the clubhouse at Wellington Cricket Club in Courtland Road.

Judith Short, stallholders and helpers raised £1,250.50 for the Vine Trust – which provides primary health care to communities in remote areas of Peru and Tanzania – and the Meningitis Research Foundation.

Judith would like to thank everyone who gave raffle prizes, helped serve refreshments, made cakes and sandwiches, and everyone who made donations to the charities.

She would especially like to thank Amanda Moysey for her help in setting up the clubhouse, Jane Plant and Lynne Philp for selling raffle tickets, Clare Honeywell and Georgia Hinman who helped clear up after the event, and Ashley Colman who offered to contribute towards expenses for the refreshments.

Chris Rudd and Simon Rudd gave fruit and vegetable baskets, and Judith’s neighbour Dennis Trist gave £20 to take fundraising more than £1,000.
