VILLAGER Fin McCavern was so impressed with the staff’s efforts on a visit to Asda in Wellington he wrote to the supermarket’s boss and received a grateful email back.
Fin, who lives at Holywell Lake, is a full-time carer for his 83-year-old father, who is self-isolating because of the coronavirus crisis.
Fin in his email praised managers and staff for working exceptionally hard to ensure cleanliness, and for their ‘stoicism and camaraderie’.
He added: “A chance for a chuckle and a kind word or two makes a huge difference in these troublesome times and this is plain to see among your team, for which I thank them deeply.

It is so very generous of you to take the time to write to me – thank you for your comments and in particular for your comments about the team in Wellington. I know that they will be as buoyed by your email as I was.
“My very best wishes go to you and your father – my mother is the same age and I know that this will be a worrying time for you, so do stay safe.”
