LOCAL author Katharine Lowrie will be speaking about her new book ‘Running South America with My Husband and Other Animals’ at Uffculme village hall tonight (Wednesday, December 13).

Katharine and David were the first people in the world to run the length of South America, the equivalent of 250 marathons. They ran through some of the world’s most awe-inspiring and biologically rich ecosystems raising money for conservation along the way.

They completed the expedition unaided, taking turns to pull their tent and supplies in a two-wheeled trailer but it nearly cost them their marriage, health, sanity and lives.

Katharine will speak about the epic run and the couple’s adventures along the way. She will also be signing copies of the book.

Tickets priced £6 are available from Uffculme Library and No 11 café, or by phoning Jim on 01884 840515 or Angie on 01884 841433. Otherwise turn up tonight 7pm for 7.30pm, at the hall’s Garden Room.

The event is hosted by Uffculme Library Friends and cheese and wine is included in the ticket price.
