WELLINGTON man Peter Meredith and his friends are looking forward to bringing a saucy summer romp to his old school next week.

Peter, a Wellington School old boy, is playing a range of characters from brave Sir Gawaine to Sim, the scheming miller, in the Taunton Thespians 2017 outdoor summer tour.

The Thespians are telling tales – not any old tales but four of Chaucer’s best: the Wife of Bath’s Tale, the Miller’s Tale, the Reeve’s Tale and the Nun’s Priest’s Tale.

Spicy, saucy and colourful, these tales stand the test of time and have been jauntily translated into modern rhyming couplets by Jeremy Secker in such a way that they are instantly understood and enjoyed.

Peter and his chums are coming to Wellington School next Wednesday (July 19) as well as other locations in Somerset throughout the month.

Venues open at 6pm for picnics and the show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets bought in advance are valid for any venue and are available online from Taunton Visitor Centre on 01823-340470 or on the door at every venue.

People are invited to bring their friends, chairs and picnics but organisers say the show is not suitable for under 11-year-olds.
