ROSS Henley, Somerset county councillor for Blackdown and Neroche – which includes Wellington East and West Buckland – is raising objections to the axeing of funding by the county council to the number 20 bus service which links Wellington and West Buckland.

Ross said yesterday: “This is a vital link for West Buckland residents and would be bad news if a large village like West Buckland had no bus.

“It’s a kick in the teeth for residents that they are being told to pay the highest increase in council tax in the country – 5.24 per cent from the Conservative-run county council and, by the way, we are stopping your bus service as well. I am raising objections to the full county council about this.

“This bus service is also used by West Buckland residents to shop in Wellington, see friends and go to the doctors. It’s a lifeline for many residents.”
