BOB Corbin, a leading figure in horticulture and groundsmanship for the past 60 years, celebrated his 100th birthday last week at Oaktree Court in Wellington.

He celebrated his centenary with a presentation from his family of a large portrait painted in oils by Paul Saville, uncle of the well-known painter Jenny Saville, and a commemorative poem written by Jen Green, who co-wrote his autobiography, R J Corbin’s Travels of a Bothy Boy.
