WELLINGTON Town Council is to look at entering into a long-term agreement with the group which helps to keep the area looking bright and colourful.

The council agreed at its latest meeting to award the Wellington in Bloom group £1,500 of funding to help with its annual work, which follows on from a £1,200 grant made in 2017 and a further £1,250 last year.

But it was suggested during the council’s meeting that the authority look to enter into a Service Level Agreement with the Bloom group over a number of years.

This would mean the town council would guarantee a level of funding for a set period of time – normally three years – and the organisation’s aims would be monitored to see if it was achieving those aspirations.

An SLA would give the Bloom group some stability and would mean it would not need to keep applying to the council for funding each year.
