WINNERS in St John’s Primary School’s Reading Challenge, run every half-term, went along to W H Smith in Wellington to choose a book as their prize.

Linda Roberts, Literacy subject leader at the town school, said: “We put a great emphasis on encouraging all children to read for pleasure. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to visit the shop and choose their own books from the shelf.”

The children came from Early Year Foundation Stage up to Year 6.
