Christmas shoeboxes have been arriving at the home of Janice and David Bawler in Hemyock for the Devon charity Christian Response to Easter Europe(cr2ee) appeal.

The boxes are filled with a huge range of new gifts, from sweets, toys and headscarves to tools, aftershave and coffee, as the charity distributes to adults and families as well as children in Moldova, one of Europe’s poorest countries.

This year has seen 124 boxes arrive from a large area – Morchard Bishop and Bampton to Bridgwater and Wellington.

Thirteen very large bags of knitted garments and good quality secondhand clothes and bedding have also been donated.

As well as the shoeboxes the charity provides and supports soup kitchens, education and medical projects and family support.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year’s appeal, with special thanks to 1st Hemyock Cubs who donated four very full boxes.
