POPHAM Court care home in Wellington has been struck by a sickness bug which has resulted in it cancelling some events, including an open day and summer fete planned for the end of last week.

A statement issued by the Court this week stated: “Some of the residents at Popham Court have recently contracted a sickness bug. As a result, the care home is following recommended procedures by cancelling several events and has asked friends and relatives to refrain from visiting for the time being to prevent the germs spreading further in the home.

“Staff at the home are working hard to ensure that everyone is as comfortable as possible in the meantime and we hope to be open to visitors again very soon. While we are sorry for the inconvenience, we hope that people will understand as our residents’ health and well-being is our main priority.”
