RGB Building Supplies, which has a premises in Wiveliscombe, is relaunching its Community Fund for a third year but this time the local community will be given the opportunity to decide who receives £1,000 of building materials.

Having made donations to a youth group, animal welfare centre, charity that supports the homeless, a martial arts centre and an outdoor project in the last year, RGB is asking for different deserving groups to get in contact and explain how a donation of building materials would help.

To relaunch the fund, the first donation will be made to a group or project that aims to recognise the rich heritage of the local area but this time the way the winning group is chosen is changing.

From all the nominations received, three groups will be selected as finalists, then the local community will be asked to vote for who they would like to receive the building materials. Voting will be done by visiting a local branch, email or via Facebook.

Product and marketing manager Keith Harris said: “Our Community Fund continues to highlight what fantastic groups and charities there are in the area and we are delighted to be launching it again for a third year. Having had to choose a group to receive £1,000 worth of building materials every other month for the past two years, I know the community will have a tough decision picking a winner out of the three finalists.”

Groups that work to preserve or recognise local history can nominate themselves by explaining how £1,000 of building materials could be of help. The closing date for nominations is Monday, May 2.

RGB is giving away £1,000 of building materials every other month until March 2017. Further call-outs will be made to village halls, amateur theatre groups, schools that support children with a disability, the scouting movement and local libraries inviting them to nominate.
