THE list of retail casualties in Wellington continues to grow, as Lou’s Sweets and Treats on the High Street announced that it will be closing its doors on June 25.

The owner, businesswoman Lou Morgan, told the Wellington Weekly News that the reason for the closure was quite simple. “The High Street just isn’t busy enough”.

She went on: “We just haven’t got the customers. And with the cost of living crisis, it doesn’t look as if that’s going to change any time soon.”

The ever-cheerful Lou said she is opening a cleaning business next. “I can’t afford to keep this shop open. The rent, the electricity - I’ve eaten through a lot of my savings  trying to do it, but I just can’t any more. But the cleaning business is looking encouraging.”
