WELLINGTON butcher Lloyd Sprague has been celebrating after proving himself a cut above the rest at the South West Winter Fair.

Lloyd, of Sprague’s Butchers, won gold awards in a number of categories at the fair held near Bridgwater at the Sedgemoor Auction Centre complex at Junction 24.

His sausages won gold for pork, cheese and Marmite; pork and fresh leek; and traditional olde Wellington; while he also won a bronze award for smoked maple and sweet chilli.

Lloyd also claimed the prizes for champion lamb carcass and reserve champion carcass to cap a fine show.

It was the first show he had entered this year and he was obviously delighted with the success.

But he has had no time to celebrate as he has been busy at his shop in the High Street meeting the demands of customers in the run-up to Christmas.

He has received lots of messages of congratulations from friends and customers on his social media Facebook page.
