WELLINGTON Carnival Committee will be assisting Santa when he arrives at a local garden centre on Saturday.

The committee will transport Father Christmas from Taunton train station at 10.15am, arriving at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at 11am with a special guest in tow. He will then take up residence in his grotto.

Carnival committee secretary Louise Brierley said: “We’re thrilled to be assisting Father Christmas on his journey. He’ll be travelling on our specially built float, which comes complete with life-sized flying reindeer, sleigh, illuminations and sound system.

“It looks set to be great fun and we hope lots of people can join us and welcome us and Santa when we arrive at the garden centre.”

Members of Wellington Majorettes will be escorting Santa dressed as elves and snowmen.
