Wellington Carnival Committee chairman Sharon Collins is appealing for more volunteers for its events this year.
She came to the rescue of the ‘big free show’ towards the end of the year when she agreed to stay on to lead the committee.
At one stage it looked like there would be no carnival and events which support it because she gave notice she was stepping down.
Sharon said “We are in a better position this year than last year in as much as the main committee officers are sorted – however, we are looking for people to come on board and help with the fundraising and assistance for the Street Fair and the Carnival.
“We’re in the process of running a regular monthly bingo in 2020. It is hoped to stage the Street Fair in June.”
n The carnival committee is involved in other events in the town, not only the Carnival and Street Fair, with local groups, charities, organisations and schools benefiting from the profits of these events.
It needs marshalls, collectors, raffle ticket sellers, minute taker, painters, carpenters, photographers, drivers, DJs, chefs and more.
