Wellington Community Hospital cleaner Carol Buddle received ‘thank-yous’ as she retired from her job after 35 years.

In appreciation for all her hard work Cheryl Bailey presented Carol with an orchid, bottle of bubbly and a card from the League of Friends.

And hospital matron Norma Coombes matron presented her with a bouquet and other gifts on behalf of staff.

Carol has seen many changes during her time at the hospital and has loved the work and the people she has met and worked with.

In recent years she has been on the early morning shift, starting at 5am. She has had her work cut out lately not only cleaning the hospital where numerous clinics are taking place but also Stratfield House where hundreds of people have been passing through for their Covid vaccinations.

A cleaner’s job in a hospital has always been a very important one but never more so than now.

Although officially retired Carol has signed up to the bank of temporary staff while the pandemic continues.
