BLACKDOWN Hills AONB and the National Trust are staging an Evening of Christmas Spirit at Wellington Monument on Friday, December 8 (7.15-9pm).

The Blackdown Community Choir will lead the carols and the monument will be lit up for the occasion.

A bonfire will keep everyone warm while the singing takes place, with hot drinks and festive refreshments for sale provided by Smeatharpe WI.

A free coach will provide lifts to and from the monument from Longforth in Wellington. The coach has been made possible through contributions from Blackdown Hills AONB, the trust and Redwoods Travel in Hemyock.

Blackdown Hills AONB manager Tim Youngs said: “The carols at the monument provide us with a wonderful opportunity to gather together as a community, to appreciate our rich heritage and our starry skies.”

Drivers are encouraged to lift-share if possible as parking at the monument will be limited. Singing will start at 7.30pm.
