THE 90th anniversary of Wivey Pool in Wiveliscombe has been marked by recreating an overnight English Channel swim.
Six teams, three from the community and the rest from Taunton School Long Distance Swimming Club, completed the challenge in a six-person relay at the town’s recreation ground.
The English Channel equates to about 1,291 lengths of the pool but the swimmers managed a combined total of 7,746 lengths.
The swimmers raised money to help refurbish the pool, which is run by volunteers.
A team of national and Olympic swimmers based at The Southport School in Queensland, Australia, swam at the same time.
First team home was the Wivey Monday Medley in ten hours 14 minutes.
