Shameless Angel – a live show that’s ’shamelessly sexy and murderously funny’ – is coming to Clayhidon Parish Hall in the Blackdown Hills.
The hall has almost certainly never seen the likes of this ’cabaret with claws’, starring Charlie Bicknell, a darkly brilliant performer with an amazing voice, who packs her unique act with contentious and often achingly funny songs.
An unusual approach to childcare, a heartfelt love song to Benedict Cumberbatch, a slightly bizarre approach to suicide and a radio programme of ‘Climactic Interludes’ feature in this eclectic and often startlingly athletic performance, which is brought to Clayhidon by Villages in Action and Carn to Cove.
National newspaper reviews of her previous shows have been enthusiastic. “A high octane mix of English rose, vamp and Cruella de Vil, Charlie’s shamelessly sexy, murderously funny. You have been warned. Roses have thorns,” said The Observer.
“The sort of girl to make men loosen their ties and women shorten their skirts,” said The Times. And Sue Arnold, also writing in The Observer, called Charlie Bicknell “a one-woman weapon of Mass Distraction”.
Shameless Angel is on Friday, November 16, at 7.30pm (doors open 7pm). Tickets are £9 – to reserve call Caroline on 01823 681047 or email [email protected] There will be a licensed bar and supper, which is £5 and must be booked in advance.
