A POPULAR children’s television star is due to perform an evening DJ set at a local charity dance marathon.
Richard McCourt, known as ‘Dick’ in the comedic duo ‘Dick and Dom’ will perform at the annual Reminiscence Learning 12-hour dance-a-thon on Saturday, February 28, in Oake Village Hall.
The CBBC icon who co-starred in ‘Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow’ and ‘The Legend of Dick and Dom’ is a charity ambassador for Reminiscence Learning and has spoken publicly about the impact dementia has had on his family.

This will be the second year that Mr McCourt has appeared at the charity dance-a-thon which raises money for Reminiscence Learning.

Other charity ambassadors for Reminiscence Learning include Somerset Deputy Lord Lieutenant and former BBC Radio Somerset journalist Clinton Rogers, and retired Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Annie Maw.
Maeve Fagan, administrator at Reminiscence Learning, said: “The aim is to dance for 12 hours but what is most important is that everybody has fun for a good cause.
“There will be opportunities for breaks, snacks, and refreshments.
“We will have Bollywood, line dancing, ballet, street dance and more.
“The whole team at Reminiscence Learning are really excited for the event and the special guest.”

Maeve explained that fancy dress is encouraged but not essential, with some groups already planning on attending in pajamas and flapper dresses.
A prize will be up for grabs for the best dance group.
The Pancake Pod will serving food from 10 am to 1 pm and the Little Van Rouge will be selling from 1 pm to 7 pm.
Tickets are £12.50 and can be purchased at the door or by visiting the charity’s website.
