Last year proved another good one for fundraising by the United Reformed Church, which was generously supported in its efforts by Barclays bank.

The charities church members chose for the year were the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and the Wellington charity WHERE, in North Street.

WHERE provides a much valued service reducing isolation and encouraging friendship, especially through its luncheon club, and providing transport for the disabled.

Through its coffee mornings and special events the church raised £942 for each of the two charities. Barclays added £530 for the Beacon Centre and is sending another £480 to WHERE.

The church is enormously grateful for the bank’s generosity and to all the people in Wellington who support its fundraising.

This year the chosen charities are Release International, which helps persecuted Christians throughout the world, and St Margaret’s Hospice, which depends on private donations to carry out most of its work.

The church will again be running coffee mornings and other events throughout the year to help these causes and looks forward to seeing its much appreciated supporters at these events.
