Churches, like many other venues, have seen a drop in income due to Covid-19 restrictions.

In the Upper Culm Valley Mission Community, consisting of Hemyock with Culm Davy, Clayhidon and Culmstock, the projected shortfall in income totals almost £20,000.

Some people have been able to continue with regular donations through, for example, standing order, but income has been lost through weekly collections, visitors, fees and fundraising events.

To help offset this a Gift Day is to be held tomorrow (Saturday). Each church will be open between 10am-noon with either a churchwarden or church council member in attendance and somewhere obvious to safely leave gifts.

No matter how large or small every gift will be warmly welcomed as it will help bridge the gap each church faces and help secure the future. Hemyock’s projected loss is more than £5,500, Culm Davy £2,300, Clayhidon £8,700 and Culmstock £3,100.

Anyone who would like to make a donation but is unable to visit the churches should contact a churchwarden whose details can be found on www.culmkirks.co.uk
