THE Brewhouse in Taunton is offering a change from panto this festive season with a production of Around the World in 80 Days, based on Jules Verne’s classic novel.
But the theatre, in its first in-house production, still promises fun, laughter, music, dance and audience participation. Theatre-goers are invited to hop on board and join Phileas Fogg on trains, Chinese junks, hot air balloons, even an elephant, as he tries to circumnavigate the world in 80 days. Phileas will journey through Parisian nightclubs to the Bombay Hilton, traverse the Wild West and navigate the Atlantic.
This fresh new production is written and composed by Phil Willmott and Annemarie Thomas. And the show features a professional cast that includes well-known faces such as Derek Frood, known to many as Captain Bray in BBC’s Poldark. They are ably backed by a strong community cast of home grown talent ranging from youngsters aged seven to young adults.
Beautiful scenery and funky ‘steampunk inspired’ costumes plus a few surprises along the way are promised.
The show runs from December 10-31 and tickets are priced from £14. They can be booked online at www.thebrewhouse.net or via the box office on 01823 283244.
