RIVAL football clubs have joined forces to condemn proposed playing fields at the yet to be built Longforth Farm estate, Wellington as "nowhere near" big enough.
Now angry officials at Wellington AFC and Sampford Blues say they will resist future attempts to move them from the Recreation Ground in Wellington to Longforth Farm.
They say plans for the giant 500-plus home housing development show land allocated for new sports pitches including a cricket square plus outfield, and two football pitches, with changing accommodation and play areas, when in reality the area shown on a map is too small.
The bombshell comes after Wellington Cricket Club has already said it is to stay at the Playing Field, and the current plan is for a second cricket square at the Rec between two rugby pitches.
