EIGHT miles of scaffolding has started to come down from Wellington Monument, which has been under resotration for more than a year.

The new stone is very pale cream as opposed to the grey weathered old stone.
The scaffolders started at the top of the landmark on Monday and will work their way down.
This should take about six weeks with a newly designed structure around the plinth so that the stonemasons can work on the outer wall of the monument. PHOTO: Around Wellington
