THE Wellington branch of The Royal British Legion launched the town’s Poppy Appeal at its annual Gala Poppy Concert at Wellington School on Friday evening.

Music and song was provided by Wellington Operatic Society and Wellington Silver Band, who always provide varied and popular performances.

They performed without any charge which meant all proceeds went to the Poppy Appeal which raised a record £8,940 last year.

The Poppy Staff will be in the Co-op supermarket at Wellington again this year – from Monday, October 26.
