THERE’S an awful lot of coffee...at Tonedale Mill in Wellington, although it may be a little hard to find!

Brazier Coffee Roasters, run by husband and wife team Tom and Claire Brazier, is tucked away in the Puttee House building where visitors can enjoy a ‘cuppa’ in the cafe overseen by Max Birdsall-Wilson.

The company roasts coffee for the wholesale market and 15,000 cups of its product are drunk every week in cafes, hotels, restaurants and pubs across the South-West – and as far away as London.

Tom and Claire have been in business two years, originally at West Hatch, near Taunton, but moved to Tonedale in October last year.

They said: “We were in awe of the site, the history and the potential for further development. The building also lends itself perfectly to being open to the public.

“We are passionate about all things coffee and source the finest green beans from around the world and roast them in small batches on our Giesen coffee roaster.

“We are excited to share more about the process with the public – when visiting the roastery they can see the process in action and taste freshly roasted coffee.

“We only roast speciality-grade coffee beans, meaning the farmers who grew them are paid a premium for their coffee, benefiting the whole community.”

The 20-plus seat cafe also sells teas, hot chocolate and chai drinks, as well as breads and other baked goods from the White Post Bakery at Langford Budville.
