SOME 24 Year 9 and 10 students from Court Fields School in Wellington went out on the Quantocks on a practice expedition for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
They set off from the West Bagborough area and followed four different routes in teams of six.
Navigation in woods is especially difficult, especially with so many small valleys running in all directions on the Quantocks, but everyone successfully navigated their way to the campsite near Holford. After putting up their tents, they cooked a meal, played games and enjoyed a camp fire and a chat.
The weather was kind over the weekend but the night was especially cold. Everyone was up by 7am on Sunday, cooking breakfast and packing up for day two of the hike, which some groups did incredibly quickly.
Then it was back to Wellington in the minibus. The assessed expedition is in June on Exmoor.
